For many careers, your major is not the most important qualification. Passion for the field, a well-rounded experience, and academic success often matter more. Because many careers require a college degree, but not a specific major, we encourage you to explore your passions, values, and interests at MSU.
The Exploratory Preference (EXP) major gives you the space and support to discover what truly fits you. Instead of rushing into a major and switching later, which the vast majority of students do, you’ll explore your interests with intention. This approach helps you make a confident, informed decision about your major, while staying on track for graduation. Students can select the Exploratory Preference (EXP) major up until they reach junior standing (56 credits).
The Exploring Business Preference (EBP) major is an option for students to explore the vast number of business-related majors offered by MSU’s 14 undergraduate degree-granting schools and colleges while completing the standard admissions requirements.
There are several majors outside the Broad College of Business that will set you up for success in the diverse world of business after graduation. The EBP major allows you to explore these majors while also pursuing the standard admission process for entrance into Broad. This allows you to have more than one option to pursue your future career goals in business.
Students are added to the EBP major while pursuing standard admission to Broad after not being accepted to Broad on direct admission.
Finding your way once you get to MSU is about more than getting to class, it’s about knowing where to go for support along the way. University Advising and campus partners offer events, guides, and resources to help you navigate campus, discover key services, and feel confident getting settled once you arrive.
