Resources for students experiencing an urgent, emergency, or crisis situation, including mental health concerns, safety issues, and other immediate needs.
- Department of Police and Public Safety — Provides emergency response, law enforcement, safety services, and support for the MSU community. Call 911 for emergencies or 517-355-2221 for non-emergency assistance.
- Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) Crisis Line — Provides free, confidential crisis counseling to MSU students 24/7. Call 517-355-8270 and press 1 to speak with a crisis counselor.
- Care and Intervention Team (CAIT) — Provides a coordinated response to concerns about students or others who may be struggling, experiencing distress, or presenting a potential threat to their own or others' safety.
- Mandatory Reporting — Guidance for MSU employees and volunteers on their responsibilities for reporting relationship violence, sexual misconduct, stalking, and other prohibited conduct.
- Community Mental Health — Provides mental health crisis response, behavioral health services, and community-based support for individuals in the Greater Lansing area.
- End Violent Encounters (EVE) — Provides free and confidential crisis intervention, advocacy, shelter, and support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, and abuse.
- MSU Center for Survivors — Provides free and confidential counseling, advocacy, support groups, crisis services, and other resources for individuals affected by sexual and relationship violence.
- MSU Safe Place — Provides confidential advocacy, emergency shelter, counseling, safety planning, support groups, and referrals for survivors of relationship violence, stalking, and harassment.
- Office for Civil Rights and Title IX Education and Compliance — Supports the MSU community in addressing discrimination, harassment, relationship violence, sexual misconduct, stalking, and other civil rights concerns, while connecting individuals with support and reporting resources.
- MSU Food Bank and Basic Needs Program — Connects students with food assistance and other basic-needs resources to help address challenges that may affect their wellbeing and ability to succeed.
