Requesting a major change (with 0-55 credits)

To change your major, use the Online Major Change Request Form.

Students wishing to change to Exploratory Preference, Pre-Nursing or Pre-Vet can meet with an Exploratory Advisor to change their major instead of submitting the form.
All other majors will either use the Online Major Change Request Form or college-specific major change processes must be followed. Use the list on this page to access college-specific student affairs and major change information.
Students with a major in James Madison, Lyman Briggs or the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities must complete an exit interview/survey with their college prior to submitting a major change request.

Online Major Change Request Form access instructions

Sign out of personal Google applications and accounts (e.g., Google Drive, Docs, Gmail, Calendar, etc.), and close all tabs or windows running Google applications.
1. Alternatively, open the form in an “Incognito” or “Private” browser window
Click the Online Major Change Request Form button/link
A Google sign-on page will open
Sign in with your MSU email address (NetID@msu.edu)
The MSU sign on and authentication page will open
Reenter your MSU email address and password
Complete any necessary MSU login authentication processes
You should be redirected to the form once authenticated

Please note: If you receive the message, “You need permission,” you are still logged into your personal Google accounts. Log out of all Google accounts and close all open tabs or windows running Google applications and follow the above steps again to access it via your MSU Google Account associated with your NetID.
