Maame (she/her) is from Livonia, Michigan. She earned her B.S. in Psychology and Youth Studies from Central Michigan University and her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, with a minor in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Maame has extensive experience in academic advising, student development, career and academic coaching, and student success programming. Her work has focused on supporting students through the transition to college, major and career exploration, identity development, and building a strong sense of belonging. Through her work in advising, teaching, program development, and assessment, Maame is passionate about creating meaningful opportunities and resources that help students navigate college, explore their interests, and achieve their academic and professional goals.

I truly enjoy supporting students as they explore their interests and discover what is meaningful to them. Helping students identify opportunities, resources, and communities where they can grow and thrive is what motivates me.

College doesn’t get easier—you get better. College can be challenging, and new obstacles will come your way. It won’t always be easy, but each challenge is an opportunity to grow. Get involved, try new things, and learn from your experiences. Over time, you’ll build the skills you need to handle whatever comes your way.
The friendships and relationships I built. I’m still close with the same core group of friends I made in college, and they continue to be an important part of my life. College shaped so much of who I am, and honestly, I wouldn’t be me without them.
I was the captain of my high school track and field team, where I competed in the discus and shot put. Being a team captain taught me a lot about leadership, commitment, and supporting the people around me.
