I cherish the opportunity to be a part of the collegiate journey of all the students I have the opportunity to advise, as I do my very best to be an effective and supportive resource, sounding board, and guide.
My 2 favorite spots at MSU (I can’t choose just one!) are the Music Building, where my 2 daughters participated in the SAT piano competitions and I took my 2 Music Learning Theory certification summer workshops, and the gorgeous, spacious dance studio with O’mara Sprung Floors in the IM Sports Circle Building, where I taught the DAN-351 Tap Dance Technique 1 for fall semester 2022. Those floors are a tap dancer and teacher’s dream!
Being brave enough to change careers in my mid-40s. The elementary music classroom no longer felt like the right fit for me, and after following the suggestion of a friend, I applied for an academic advisor position at MSU. And here I am! In a new job that I absolutely love!
“Do it scared.” By nature, I am not a fan of change. It causes me stress and self-doubt. My husband once shared with me that he feels the same things but chooses to “do it scared”. That fear eventually subsides, and the result is usually immense growth and memorable life experiences.
